It’s Not The Holiday Season Without ‘Die Hard’ And Sequels On 4K UHD Steelbook

by David Lewis

Now you can have the first three Die Hard movies on 4K UHD. Ho-ho-ho. Die Hard 2 and Die Hard with a Vengeance are making their 4K Ultra HD debut, joining the 1988 original which is already available in the format.

The Bruce Willis classic returns to 4K UHD in a new Steelbook just in time to get invited to the Nakatomi holiday party by mistake. This is the film started it all. You know the tune: An NYPD cop named John McClane (Willis) faces a group of terrorists (“Who said we were terrorists?”), led by Alan Rickman, at his estranged wife’s office holiday party in an LA high rise. Paul Gleason, Bonnie Bedelia, Reginald Veljohnson, and William Atherton co-star.

It spawned four sequels (so far), and 1990’s Die Hard 2 and 1995’s Die Hard With a Vengenace are also getting the 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray + Steelbook treatment this December. The former finds McClane spending another Christmas Eve fighting bad guys — this time led by William Sadler and John Amos — in Washington DC. Meanwhile, Vengeance teams McClane with an NYC shopkeeper (Samuel L. Jackson) in taking on a ruthless criminal with a familiar connection to an familiar face (Jeremy Irons).

Special features are TBA. There were two more subsequent films in the series, but you’ll have to wait for their arrival on 4K UHD. For now, Live Free or Die Hard and A Good Day to Die Hard will be getting new digital artwork at various online retailers.

The 4K Die Hard trilogy arrives on December 1st.
