by Brendan M. Allen
It’s becoming a holiday tradition. Syzygy Publishing and Image Comics are back to put the dread where the merry used to be. Dread the Halls 2026 is bringing another 48 pages of supernatural horror, pitch-black humor, and ultimate seasonal carnage to comic shops this December.

Series creators and writers Jordan Hart and Chris Ryall are joined by artists Chris Anderson, Drew Rausch, Fabio Veras, and Well-Bee for four new stories that take everything warm, nostalgic, and comforting about Christmas and send it straight down the chimney.

“Elves versus Werewolves, self-aware parade floats that battle above Hollywood, a happy family that accidentally brings a haunted Christmas tree into their home … from art style to story themes, this year’s issue pushes the Dread the Halls series into unexplored territory while offering a new spin on one of the greatest Christmas horror covers of all time!” said Hart.
“It’s exciting enough to get the ‘Dread’ band back together for a bleakly funny foray into the holiday season, but having a special cover from Joe Jusko, the artist whose work is directly responsible for us creating Dread the Halls in the first place, makes this one extra-special,” added Ryall.

Dread the Halls 2026 gets the full holiday wrap treatment with six covers. Maria Wolf illustrated Cover A and the 1:50 Toxic Variant. Series writer Hart created the Wrapped Variant. Legendary painter Joe Jusko gets particularly festive with a Bizarre Variant, a 1:25 Unwrapped Variant, and a 1:100 Foil Variant.
Pour the eggnog, check the chimney, and keep an eye on the tree. Dread the Halls 2026 (Lunar Code: 1026IM0285) goes on sale December 2nd, 2026, and is now available for preorder at your favorite retailer or from Image Comics directly.
