After sitting on the shelf for over a year, Outcast‘s second season will finally air on Cinemax this July. And judging from the trailer, the Darkness infesting Rome is far from defeated.
While it is still unclear what caused the delay in airing the new episodes domestically, Deadline previously suggested the new season will be Outcast‘s last as options on the cast — which included Patrick Fugit as demonic possession survivor Kyle Barnes and Philip Glenister as Reverend Anderson, a local preacher who tries to recruit Kyle into a coming war between Heaven and Hell — have lapsed. New contracts would have to be signed should Cinemax want to continue with the program.
The show also features Wrenn Schmidt, Megan Holter, the late Reg E. Cathey, Kate Lyn Sheil, Allison Barnes, Julia Crockett and Brent Spiner as various citizens of Rome, West Virgina and nearby townships who all find themselves part of Kyle and Anderson’s ongoing war against the darkness.
Outcast returns July 20th.
