Gust’s ‘Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & The Secret Hideout’ Series Is Getting An Anime

by Sage Ashford

Koei-Tecmo and Gust’s popular Atelier Ryza subfranchise is getting an anime series. Coming from the long-running Atelier JRPG franchise, Atelier Ryza centers around young Reisalin “Ryza” Stout, a young girl with a thirst for adventure who’s inspired to take up alchemy after being rescued from monsters by experienced alchemist Empel Vollmer. The subfranchise is one of the most successful subfranchises within the Atelier franchise, spawning two sequels.

The series is being animated by LIDENFILMS, known for their work on Call of the Night and Last Dungeon. The script is being worked on by Shakugan no Shana creator (and Atelier Ryza’s original writer) Yashichiro Takahashi, while the directing task is going to newbie director Emma Yuzuriha.

While mobile games never stopped getting adaptations, console video game adaptations are becoming more popular as well lately. With series like Megaton Musashi and Nier: Automata recently getting anime adaptations, will Atelier Ryza be another great game to anime adaptation?

Atelier Ryza will air during the summer season.
