SDCC 2023: ‘Interview With The Vampire’ Activation Brings You To Lively New Orleans

by Gary Catig

There might have been many Hollywood cancellations for San Diego Comic-Con 2023, but they still had a presence at the event. Many of the offsite activations promoted streaming platforms and other television series. For example, AMC brought the streets of historical New Orleans to fans just like you would find in Interview with the Vampire.

You are first taken into a poorly lit bar where two actors give you the opportunity of a lifetime. This served as an appetizer of things to come. It was a very interactive experience with the talent, and you even received your first drink: the elixir to grant immortality.

You are soon whisked away to a busy street in the French Quarter. There is a whole cast of actors all playing their part to bring a little liveliness. The authorities are about trying to solve mysterious disappearances, musical performers serenade you in song, and sly hustlers look to swindle you. It’s like you’re transported to a whole different world. As you wander around, you can treat yourself to libations of the alcoholic or non-alcoholic variety and pick up a bag of beignets, a local favorite.

While immersed in all the fun, you must visit three different stations to get your guide punched. At each stop you receive a little piece of SWAG related to Interview with the Vampire. At the very end, there are a number of posters to pick up featuring the characters from the series.

Overall, the offsite activation offers everything you could want. A fun immersive experience, food and drink to enjoy, and some nice freebies to take home as a memento of the experience.
