Dario Argento Panico is an in depth look into the art and cinematic career of the master of Giallo cinema, Dario Argento. The documentary film features interviews with Asia Argento, Guillermo del Toro, Gaspar Noe, and Nicolas Winding Refn. The film is really made for those who are already familiar with Argento’s filmography.
As a film buff I’ve familiarized myself with the seminal works of Alfred Hitchock, Sergio Leone, and Akira Kurosawa— Admittedly many “classic films” suffer from the “Citizen Kane effect” and feel like products of their time. Conversely, Argento’s films look and feel ahead of their time. There’s use of avant garde editing, cinematography, and musical score. I hope more young filmmakers with discover Argento’s works and get inspired. Great art never stays dead for long!
