Classic Noir ‘Rififi,’ Tobe Hooper, and ‘Pandemonium’ Pack Arrow’s May Streaming Lineup

First up is Pandemonium, a new film French director Quarxx (All the Gods in the Sky) that weaves together three chilling stories about lost souls. For now, it’s exclusive to Arrow.

In 1976’s Eaten Alive, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre director Tobe Hooper goes full Southern gothic with a crocodile-driven twist, and a cast featuring such horror luminaries as Carolyn Jones (Morticia from The Addams Family), Neville Brand (Killdozer!), Chain Saw vet Marilyn Burns, and Freddy Krueger himself, Robert Englund.

Speaking of horror legends, Lon Chaney Jr. makes a late career appearance in 1967’s increasingly insane thriller Spider Baby, helmed by exploitation king Jack Hill (Coffy, Foxy Brown). Arrow will pair it with the Hill-directed western short The Host.

1955’s Rififi is not to be missed. Blacklisted American director Jules Dassin crafted this influential film noir in France, and it features what is arguably the most suspenseful heist sequence in history. Pretty much every heist film since took inspiration from it.

Arrow’s Selects series this month is brought to you by director Jennifer Reeder (Perpetrator, Knives and Skin) and features female-led cult films including Switchblade Sisters (another Jack Hill joint), The Sacred Spirit, and Lady Morgan’s Vengeance.
