Streaming And Screaming: ‘Apostle’ A Horror Hidden Gem From The Director of ‘The Raid’
by Tito W. James
Apostle is a period piece horror film written and directed by Gareth Evans known for directing The Raid duology. I was blown away by Evans’ martial arts films and was surprised that I’d never even heard of his foray into horror with Apostle. The film follows a man’s journey into a reclusive cult with the goal of rescuing his sister. Evans’ directing continues to be superb with a great sense of pacing, atmosphere, and rising tension. The film is thrilling enough even before supernatural elements creep their way into the narrative. It’s really a crime that this film wasn’t given more attention.
Apostle is now streaming on Netflix.
