Gary Spencer Millidge Announces A ‘Strangehaven’ Epilogue And New Patreon Funding For A Great Brit Comic

For anyone who’s followed Gary Spencer Millidge‘s incredible decades-spanning series, Strangehaven, there’s been incredible news this week – an all new 50+ page epilogue to the tale is in the works…

The fourth and, as far as we knew, final volume of Strangehaven was meant to have come with the end of its serialisation in Soaring Penguin Press’s Meanwhile in 2023. But it now appears there’s one more chance to visit the residents of the strange and mysterious village, as Milidge has announced that he’s funding a new Strenagehaven Epilogue, entitled, well… Strangehaven: Epilogue.

‘As always intended, Strangehaven: Epilogue will be the final chapter of Strangehaven. And because I’m a masochistic fool, it’ll be over fifty pages long. That’s more than two whole issues’ worth (or almost four Meanwhile…length chapters). It will essentially be a fifty-page victory lap. A Strangehaven: Encore, if you will.

‘Actually, no, it’ll be more than just a victory lap; if you started following Strangehaven at some point during the last (almost!) thirty years or so, you *will* want to read this. And not only because it’s shaping up to be the best thing I’ve ever done (but I would say that, wouldn’t I?).

As for where and when it will appear…stay tuned. It’s most likely that it will be included as a bonus in the forthcoming collection. I’ll make a further announcement of my future plans for Strangehaven once the epilogue is complete – which might not be as far away as you might imagine, as I’m already deep into it.’

It’s fabulous news for anyone who’s been following Gary’s work all these years, and I cannot wait to read what he’s going to be doing here.

Likewise, I can’t wait to get hold of the final collection, Volume 4, Destiny, so I can complete the set – volumes 1-3, Arcadia, Brotherhood, and Conspiracies are books I will regularly re-read. In fact, I’ve loved Gary’s Strangehaven ever since getting that first issue and making sure that Nostalgia & Comics, Birmingham – the shop I worked at for nigh on 19 years, boy and man – sold a hell of a lot of them. It was an easy sell – we quickly adopted the mantra of “Twin Peaks meets The Prisoner with a soundtrack by The Kinks and fabulous artwork” and the comics just walked out the door.

Now, Gary’s also set up a Patreon where you can support his work, getting access to his Strange Maven’s Diary posts with progress reports and look at the work in progress, and plenty more. But seriously, just get on and support him to make Strangehaven happen faster!

But to give you an idea of what it’s all about, here’s what I’ve previously written about it….

A fantastical tale of a village and its inhabitants, Millidge’s photo realistic artwork and fabulously mysterious thriller providing continuing entertainment for so many fans over the years. The third volume of the collected Strangehaven meant an ending with a real twist, a definite cliffhanger, a shocker. After that, we had the hiatus for way too long, but a hiatus that ended with the first volume of Meanwhile. Then we had the 12 volumes of Meanwhile and Strangehaven Volume 4: Destiny. Oh, what a wonderful ride it’s been.

And the news that the ride isn’t quite over is just the best news I’ll get this week.
