Breaking: Chris Perkins And Jeremy Crawford Join Darrington Press

by Anton Kromoff

Welcome to the table,

When my phone starts vibrating at chaotic intervals as a litany of texts, direct messages, and emails start falling into my various inbox like an unexpected summer storm, I know — before I even pick up the phone — something has happened in the gaming world.

The first message was from a friend who has rolled dice with me for nearly two decades, all it said was “Jeremy and Chris?!” The second was from one of my favorite people and easily one of the most delightful players you could have at your table. Tt was a link to the Darrington Press announcement, there were emails, Instagram DMs, more texts, and eventually after I read through the article, I had a chance to bounce the news off my friend Bob who’s opinion of aforementioned news was aligned with mine.

First, the news…

Chris Perkins and Jeremy Crawford, two of the most well respected and wildly talented game designers in the TTRPG space, have joined the ranks of Darrington Press, the publishing arm of the well loved pop culture titan that is Critical Role.

The pair, who recently stepped away from Dungeons & Dragons, will be focused on developing new game concepts, mechanics, expansions, for the entire slate of Darrington Press products including include DaggerheartCandela ObscuraQueen by Midnight, and Till the Last Gap.

Second, the opinion…

I think this is delightful news. Chris and Jeremy are tuned in and talented storytellers and game designers. If you are going to leave something you have done for nearly 20 years, you more than likely are doing it for the love of the game. They have worked with the CR team many times before, they know the personalities, they know the mechanics, and they are more than likely going to be working together to make something really great in a new table top landscape.

Until next time, I am happy with this announcement and can’t wait to see what evolved from here.
