SDCC 2025: Hasbro Talks The Massive Vintage Collection LAAT/i Gunship And More

Hasbro held several panels during San Diego Comic-Con 2025 updating collectors on their upcoming products across their brands. They had many reveals including with their Star Wars brand. We spoke with team members Chris Reiff and Jing Houle to guide us through all their new announcements.

The Black Series sees the additions of The Stranger (Qimir), Asajj Ventress (Bounty Hunter), and Jango Fett.

From The Vintage Collection are Han Solo (VC372), Chewbacca (VC381), and Imperial Shock Trooper (VC374). If you’ve seen how both lines have the same figures and were curious about the process of scaling between them, we asked the Hasbro team about it.

“It’s never just a shrink it from Black Series to Vintage collection,” Reiff said. “If you think of it as, hey, we have got an approved figure that is a perfect reference to sculpt from scratch the next one. It’s that sort of thing because the joints and wall thickness and materials and all the different concerns change depending on what size you’re at. Even on an overlap of fabric on a torso, you can do proportionately thinner fabric on a six inch figure, because when you shrink it down, that fabric needs to have about the same thickness on a three and three quarter figure. So, you still have to go in and address it all but we’ve kind of worked through the aesthetics of how we might do some of that stuff.”

Probably the biggest item revealed is the HasLab The Vintage Collection LAAT/i Gunship. The team went into detail about the large vehicle and its crowdfunding campaign.

“The first question a lot of fans have is hey, you guys did that in the past,” Reiff said. “We did one in 2002 and it was based off of the animated show so very low detail. We pulled one out the other day and held it up next our new HasLab, and the new HasLab is significantly bigger. It’s like 25%-ish bigger. 20-25% bigger.”

He continued, “So much more detail, all sorts of great features. It’s one of those things for a HasLab, we always want to deliver that dream level of detail and feature. I think this one has over delivered on that dream level on so many ways.”

The features include:

• Removable panels on the side of the ship that open up and reveal hidden compartments
• Multiple nose art pieces that are swappable including the “Crumb Bomber” with Salacious Crumb and “Service with a Smile” which was Kit Fisto’s ship during the Battle of Mon Cala in Star Wars: The Clone Wars
• A fully detailed cockpit with two control panels
• Two pilot figures with one on the card and one loose
• Removable Missiles
• Big cargo doors on the side that opens nice and slow via a mechanism 
• Loading ramps
• Two display bases including in flight display stand and hover stand
• Ball turrets that can fit figures
• A main cargo hold where figures can stand and hold onto the railing above them

If enough people support the HasLab The Vintage Collection LAAT/I Gunship, there are some interesting tier rewards. There are three different Jedi, Coleman Trebor, Saesee Tin, and Agen Kolar, representing three tiers. It’s the first time these characters have been offered in The Vintage Collection. 

Houle talked about choosing these three characters for tier rewards. “It’s also we’ve heard from fans in the past that they like background aliens that look cool. Sometimes the figures are just as important as the main offering. Together they really give us a comprehensive offering so we love to be able to put our all into all the tiered figures like that.”
