TMNT, Chow Yun-Fat, Shaw Brothers, And Breakdancers Dominate Arrow Video’s December Releases

Arrow Video’s December releases really pack a punch. Actually, many punches. And kicks. And headspins, flares, and freezes. Follow along with all the action below.

First up, Hong Kong legend Chow Yun-Fat stars in director Ringo Lam‘s 1987 crime drama City on Fire. It’s a fairly well-known secret that Quentin Tarantino‘s 1992 debut Reservoir Dogs was inspired by City on Fire. The film has been restored from the original negative and sports brand new extras, new artwork, and a collector’s booklet. Arrow’s 4K UHD and Blu-ray versions are available only in the UK, but City on Fire will also be released in the US as part of Shout Factory’s long-awaited Hong Kong Classics sub label, which will also offers several Jet Li actioners, the John Woo standards The Killer and Hard Boiled, and more.

Staying in Hong Kong, next fire up that Blu-ray player and get ready for a mega-marathon of face-splattering HK cult movie madness. That’s right, Arrow Video is releasing the fourth volume in their epic Shawscope series in a limited Blu-ray boxset offering sixteen (!) films — that’s two more titles than Volume Three, for those of you keeping score. The titles include Super Inframan; Oily Maniac; Battle Wizard; Black Magic and its sequel; Bewitched; the Hex trilogy; Bat Without Wings; Bloody Parrot; The Fake Ghost Catchers; Demon of the Lute; Seeding of a Ghost; Portrait in Crystal; and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. Featuring new restorations and TBA bonus features, Volume Four also comes with a 60-page booklet featuring new essays and photographs. Available in both UK and US.

One of the most influential documents of 1980s hip hop culture is finally back and spinning its way to 4K. Wild Style blends documentary and fiction to tell the story of an aspiring graffiti artist named Zorro as he navigates the hectic streets of NYC. Featuring performances by Grandmaster Flash, Busy Bee, The Fantastic Five, The Cold Crush Brothers, and The Rock Steady Crew. The standard Blu-ray and regular 4K UHD version come with the film’s soundtrack on CD. There’s also a limited edition LP bundle which comes with the 4K, Blu-ray, and a 2-LP set of the soundtrack on colored vinyl. All versions include a perfect bound book featuring new and archival essays and articles, a reversible sleeve, a double-sided poster, an exclusive comic book by Ed Piskor, stickers, and more. Wild Style will be available in both UK and US.

The previously announced TMNT boxset brings together all three of the ’90s live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles films. Each features brand new 4K restorations sourced from the original 35mm elements. The first film is presented in original lossless stereo and remixed Dolby Atmos surround, while both sequels can be heard in original lossless stereo and remixed DTS-HD MA 5.1 surround. The 3-disc package includes a perfect bound booklet, three double-sided posters, trading cards, a Roy’s Pizza loyalty card, and stickers.
Extras will include brand new director’s commentaries for all three films, new cast and crew interviews, and reversible sleeves featuring original artwork by Florey. An Arrow store exclusive version also includes additional reversible sleeves featuring original artwork by Matt Frank and Roberto Rivera Padro. Available in both UK and US.
