The Original ‘Halo’ Gets A Remake With ‘Halo: Campaign Evolved’

At the Halo World Championship 2025, Xbox and Halo Studios announced a remake of the original Halo, entitled Halo: CampaignEvolved. But that’s somehow not even the biggest news! The title is confirmed to launch not just on Xbox Series and PC, but PlayStation 5 as well in 2026.
Similar to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion released earlier this year, Halo: Campaign Evolved is a ground-up remake of the original Halo, featuring improved visuals, controls and cinematics. If that isn’t enough, they’ve also added an additional three prequel missions featuring Master Chief and Sgt. Johnson that will offer new enemies and environments to better set the stage.
While the game’s PvP multiplayer is gone, they’ve replaced it with a completely co-op campaign experience that can be enjoyed with two players in split-screen or four players online. For players who need a little more “spice”, they’ve also added a Campaign Remix feature to alter the gameplay however they like.
Still, it really does feel like the biggest news is that Halo is coming to the PlayStation 5. If that’s not a sign that the console wars are over, I don’t know what is.
