Battle Royale is the rare film that spawned its own sub-genre based on the game of death premise. In the film, “a group of students from a Japanese high school are forced to compete in a battle, killing one another until only one is left standing.” It has inspired a lot of pop culture including: The Hunger Games, Squid Game, Future Diary, Danganronpa, and Hell’s Paradise. It is one of Quentin Tarantino‘s favorite films of the 21st century and a must-watch for genre film aficionados.
