Arrow Video August Releases Include Brad Pitt In 4K UHD Debut of ‘Troy’, ‘Bill & Ted’ And More

Arrow Video’s August releases take viewers on a trip from Ancient Troy to Southern France and all the way to Heaven and Hell (and beyond).

First up is 2004’s Troy on limited edition 4K UHD and Blu-ray in the US and UK. Directed by Wolfgang Petersen (Das Boot) the film stars Brad Pitt as Achilles, who leads the Grecian army against the Trojans in this epic re-telling of Homer‘s The Iliad, which we can treat as a prequel to Christopher Nolan‘s upcoming The Odyssey. Diane Kruger, Orlando Bloom, Brendan Gleeson, Brian Cox, and Eric Bana also star. The three-disc set sports brand new 4K remasters of both the director’s cut and theatrical versions of the film, and extra features TBA.

What would an Arrow Video announcement be without a shot of action maestro John Woo? 1991’s Once A Thief is more comedic than his most famous films (The Killer, Hard Boiled), but still stars Chow Yun-Fat. Leslie Cheung and Cherie Chung co-star in this French-set heist adventure. Special features include a new commentary, new interviews, a reversible sleeve, a collectors’ booklet, and more. Arrow’s release is UK-only, but Once A Thief is available on 4K in the US through Shout’s Hong Kong Cinema Classic line.

The next release is a particularly non-bogus one: the 1990 fantasy-comedy sequel Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey on 4K UHD. Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves reprise their lovable doofus roles from 1988’s Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, and this time they travel allover the afterlife to meet the God, the Grim Reaper, the Easter Bunny, Albert Einstein, and evil robot versions of themselves. It also stars Pam Grier, Joss Ackland, and William Sadler. The UK-only edition includes a making-of documentary, two audio commentaries, and more extras TBA.

Next up, the 2023 French horror film Stéphane is scheduled for release on limited edition Blu-ray in the UK. The darkly comic found footage film is set in the world of amateur horror filmmaking. Extras include an audio commentary, deleted scenes, a collectors’ booklet, and more.

Finally, Arrow is unleashing the 1986 slasher Killer Party on limited edition Blu-ray in the UK. Directed by William Fruet (The House by the Lake) and boasting a cast that includes cult filmmaker/star Paul Bartel, Killer Party is a largely unknown title that’s ready for another look from horror fans. Extras include a new commentary, visual essays, interviews, a collectors’ booklet, and a reversible sleeve.

Meanwhile, Arrow Video’s July slate includes Falling Down and To Live and Die in L.A. in 4K, classic Reiko Ike cult movies, and more. And don’t forget their June releases, which include some Takashi Miike creepiness, plenty of Jackie Chan action, and even more John Woo.
