SDCC 2026: Hasbro Star Wars Ushers In A New Era Of Black Series And Leans More Into HasLab For Vintage Collection

Hasbro dropped a ton of announcements regarding their upcoming products at San Diego Comic-Con 2026. The news from the Hasbro Breakfast was only the tip of the iceberg since the company also hosted several panels throughout the event. We spoke with team member Brandon Tiwari to walk us through everything revealed about Star Wars.
This year for The Vintage Collection, Hasbro has been releasing toys revolving around the Battle of Genosis, especially after the LAAT/I Gunship. They unveiled Anakin Skywalker (Padawan), Obi-Wan Kenobi, Padmé Amidala (Geonosis), Super Battle Droid, B1 Battle Droid Commander.
Also arriving in The Vintage Collection is the INT-4 Interceptor & Imperial Remnant Warlord. Speaking of the set, Tiwari said, “That’s the first time we’ve done a mini rig vehicle in Vintage. The reason why it’s so important is because mini rigs were first introduced to Star Wars through Kenner Toys back in the 70s. The way mini rigs have made their journey through Star Wars, where they started off as toys, then the filmmakers from The Mandalorian and Grogu brought them into the movie with that specific vehicle, which was a full circle moment for us, especially for our designer Chris Reiff, who got the opportunity to bring that amazing vehicle in the product line again. So from toy to film and back to toy, which was really special.”
Speaking of The Mandalorian and Grogu, Rotta the Hutt will receive both a Vintage Collection (Top) and Black Series (Bottom) figure.
The theme around Black Series announcements was Maul. From Star Wars: Maul — Shadow Lord are Mandalorian Super Commando Kebris, Icarus, and Marrok. Drawing from the character’s past are Mother Talzin, Gar Saxon, and Ahsoka Tano & ARC Trooper Jesse 2-pack.
Tiwari also spoke about what fans can expect from the Star Wars brand and its different lines in the second half of the year and beyond. “A lot of what we revealed today is product that is going to see us out through the end of the year. A lot of this stuff should be coming out around October. I think, to your point of what comes next, is that new era of 2027. For Black Series, we had Queen Amidala. We are celebrating all of Star Wars and we’re doing it with that brand new packaging that you saw at the panel and over the weekend.”
He continued, “For Vintage, we are bringing in a new era by focusing on HasLab support. Going back and building out the worlds that these HasLab has been a centerpiece for years now. I think 2018 was when the [Jabba’s Sail] Barge was the first HasLab so going on six, seven, eight years. It’s been great to revisit those ships, those vehicles and look at how we can get even more characters down into the line. We’re doing that in full force in 2027. We have certain items that are haloing the HasLabs.”
Tiwari brought up the other line of toys. “Then with Retro, it gets even more exciting. The last few years, we’ve been doing six figuring multipacks. Just the one item a year. In 2027, we’re self relaunching Retro and bringing about even more characters. Some you may have even seen with some new differences. Some that have never been done in that style of five POA [Points of Articulation] before, and other cool stuff to go with it.”
