Rick Remender And Steve Epting’s ‘Hammerfist’ #1 Gets A Second Printing

by Olly MacNamee

Writer Rick Remender and artist Steve Epting‘s have a hit on their hands with their new series Hammerfist.  The debut issue has sold out and is heading for a second print this September. The second printing will feature a new cover by Epting.

Here’s what the new series is all about:

“In Hammerfist, readers meet Mike Denton: a dirtbag hitman, junkie, and absentee father. He’s spent his life chasing the easy fix — drugs, cheap sex, and murder for money — all while failing the one person who still believes he can be better: his daughter.

Now, on the eve of Black Noon — an ancient darkness that erases the light in all things — Mike has to drag himself out of the gutter, awaken a supernatural weapon powered only by love, and fight his way through the living embodiment of evil to save her. This is the story of an unredeemable killer forced to do the one thing he’s avoided his entire life: stand for something other than himself.”

And here’s Remember’s reaction to the news:

“After a couple of years of developing and bleeding on Hammerfist, it was wonderful to see the book open with such incredible numbers and such a positive response. Selling completely out of every copy the same day it was released is beyond anything I expected. But then, who wouldn’t gobble up 40 full pages of Epting and Hollingsworth together? Only a monster. I’m glad to know the monsters lost today.”

With Epting adding:

“I think it was back in 2020 when Rick and I first discussed working on something together. You never know where those initial emails will lead, but it’s hard to express how glad I am that it led to Hammerfist. I love this character and love this book, and can’t wait for you all to see where it goes. Thanks for coming along for the ride. It’s a wild one!”

Hammerfist #1, second printing is out on Wednesday, 23rd September from Image Comics.
