Indiana Jones Hunts The Marvel Universe’s Greatest Treasures In New November Variants

by Tony Thornley

Pop culture’s greatest archeologist is coming to the Marvel Universe in November in a new series of variant covers that has us wanting more.

Indiana Jones is returning to Marvel Comics in a big way this fall and winter, and Marvel is getting us excited for it with each new announcement. Later this month, two massive hardcover volumes will collect the publisher’s adaptations of Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and the spin-off series The Further Adventures of Indiana Jones. Then in February, Doctor Jones gets his first comic series in years from Jason Aaron and Aaron KuderIndiana Jones and the Sword of Pandemonium.

In between, Marvel will release a series of five variant covers in November from superstar artists Carmen Carnero, Mahmud Asrar, Sara Pichelli, Marc Chechetto and Iban Coello. The covers show Indy adventuring through the Marvel Universe, acquiring some of the greatest artifacts in the publisher’s history — the Infinity Gauntlet, Doom’s mask, Mjolnir, All-Black the Necrosword and the Crimson Gem of Cyttorak.

I’m all in for this. I’m not normally one to buy comics strictly for the variant, but I’m that big of an Indiana Jones fan. This is also a very fun concept anyways. The stories spinning out of each image are a blast to imagine.

Check out all five and watch for them in comics shops in November.
