Tony Fleecs, Tim Seeley, And Image Comics Announce New Dark Satire ‘The Princess Murders’

Creators Tony Fleecs (Stray Dogs, Feral) and Tim Seeley (Revival, Hack/Slash) have a new campy slasher/dark satire series, The Princess Murders, coming out from Image Comics this December, described as a “playful new twist on fractured fairytales”.

“In The Princess Murders, a princess has been murdered and it’s up to her wicked stepsister and fairy Godmother to catch the killer. A Snow White Slasher! Sleeping Beauty Giallo! The Princess Murders combines the self-aware cheek of films like Enchanted and the Barbie movie and pushes them into the magical realm of campy horror.”

Speaking of the new series, and working again with Seeley, Fleecs said:

“Tim and I knew we wanted to make another series together, we just couldn’t land on what that would be. We bounced around a bunch of ideas and nothing really sparked until Tim manipulated me by just smooshing two of my favorite things together. He said, ‘What if we did an Animated Princess Giallo?’ Immediately I saw what this could be and, just like when I had the idea for Stray Dogs, I knew Tim and I were specifically the people who had to make this book — the guy who made Hack/Slash and the guy from Stray Dogs? With colors by the genius colorist behind Marvel’s Spinstress? That’s who you want making your Animated Princess Slasher comic.”

Seeley added:

“The Princess Murders combines our love (and hate) for fairy tale animation and whodunnit slasher horror. It’s got all of the affection and innovation that’s become the hallmark of one of our collaborations — plus lots of really twisted ideas.”

One of the unique selling points of the series is the variant covers honourably parodying classic horror films and Disney movie posters. And you’ll see both in the variant covers for The Princess Murders #1 below:
