‘Friendly Neighborhood Mary Jane’ Preview Demonstrates Our Favorite Redhead’s New Status Quo
by Tony Thornley
The last twenty years have frankly been hell for Mary Jane Watson. In Friendly Neighborhood Mary Jane, it seems like it’s about time for everything to slow down. She hopes.

Following her short-lived stint as Venom, rising star writer Ashley Allen and superstar artist Phil Noto get Mary Jane back to basics. She’s back in New York, back in the spotlight, and at the head of her own production company — Watson Productions. But in showbiz, especially in the Marvel Universe, as the Chameleon is about to make her life difficult.
“MJ is at a bit of a crossroads,” Allen said. “She’s trying to figure out what her next chapter looks like, especially after her breakup with Venom. Despite taking a step away from superheroing, she now has time to focus on what she really loves: storytelling! She’s developing a creative production studio, but with MJ’s luck, it might not be as clear-cut as it seems.”
Based on this preview, even with MJ back in the acting life, it doesn’t seem like she can get away from the superhero world. One minute she’s saving a toddler’s ice cream, the next she’s stopping Stilt Man. And maybe she still had a symbiote?
Regardless, it looks like fun, so we’re definitely curious to see more.
Check out the preview above, and watch for Friendly Neighborhood Mary Jane #1 in stores and digitally November 4th, 2026!
