Get A Double Dose Of Jet Li And DMX And More In Toy Robot’s January Releases
by David Lewis
Toy Robot Video — the newish boutique label offshoot from Arrow Video — wants to kick off 2027 with a trio of action-packed flicks on 4K UHD and Blu-ray, all available in the US and UK.
First up is the 2000 hip hop/martial arts extravaganza Romeo Must Die, a contemporary spin on Romeo and Juliet with a legendary cast including Jet Li, Aaliyah, DMX, and recent Oscar nominee Delroy Lindo (Sinners). This dual format 4K UHD and Blu-ray features a new director-approved 4K scan and is presented uncut for the first time in the UK. Romeo Must Die comes back to life January 4th with extra features TBA.
Three years later, Li and DMX re-teamed for the outlandish action thriller Cradle 2 the Grave, in which they put aside their differences and face down a notorious crime lord (action icon Mark Dacascos). Newly restored in a 4K scan from the 35mm negative, Cradle arrives in a dual format 4K UHD and Blu-ray set with new, TBA extras, on January 4th.
Finally, the rarely seen 1999 Japanese film Hakuchi: The Innocent will be making its Blu-ray debut. Tadanobu Asano and singer Miyako Koda star in director Macoto Tezka’s dystopian drama set in an alternate reality Japan where World War II is still being fought over fifty years later. It lands on Blu-ray January 18th.
And don’t forget to check out Toy Robot’s November releases, including a Steven Seagal classic, Chow Yun-Fat‘s US debut, and more. Meanwhile, December promises Wesley Snipes on a plane, Burt Reynolds in a Machine, and more.
