Watch ‘The Owl House’ Series Finale Now On YouTube.
by Tito W. James
The Owl House is a fantasy animated series that centers on 14-year-old Luz Noceda who stumbles upon the demon world and is mentored by the rebellious witch, Eda Clawthorne. After two seasons of comedy, mystery, and adventure, the series finally came to a close with a trio of episode specials.
The series finale pulls no punches and goes into much darker places than I’d expect from the Disney Channel. However, The Owl House isn’t any more violent that a Marvel or Star Wars film. So I hope this series opens up more doors to high stakes subversive cartoons for a young adult audience. Viewers of any age can appreciate having animated adventures with stakes.
The Owl House marks a high point for animated television and will no doubt be remembered a classic. Congratulations to Dana Terrace who has worked tirelessly to make sure her vision of a queer magical girl in a dark fantasy world became a reality. To those who can identify with Luz’s journey it means the world to have a show like this. This chapter in the characters’ lives may have closed but the imagination and inclusivity of the show opens doors to wondrous new possibilities.
