Hasbro Pulse 2024: Transformers ‘DinoKing’ Roars To Life!

by Anton Kromoff

Welcome to the table,

My favorite Transformers have always been the ones that turn into anything other than vehicles. From the Beast Wars bots to the Dino Bots, the gnashing jaws of Skullcruncher to the weirdly diabolical shells of the Pretenders, the stranger the transformed, the more odd the disguise, the more I like them.

Hasbro Pulse had a lot of great bot offerings, and we will for sure get to those, but I have to take a second and talk to you guys about the Transformers Legacy United Dinobot DinoKing Multipack.

First and foremost, if anyone is asking “What is that amazing brightly colored ax-wielding bot above is that this ‘DinoKing’ you speak of?”

YES! Yes, it is! That thing is DinoKing! And if anyone is asking “What exactly is DinoKing, Anton?”

Well, strap in, and old Anton will learn you a little something about what is, in my humble opinion, the greatest combiner bot of all time!

DinoKing is a Decepticon that is formed when six Dinoforce warriors merge together to form this towering battle bot. While there are a lot of cool combiners, DinoKing is a true engine of destruction functioning much like my favorite Kaiju, Godzilla.

So not only is this guy a massive robot of destruction, he can also split apart, allowing each member of Dinoforce to turn into their own dinosaur or bot forms. Goryu (left leg) having a T-Rex form, Kakuryu (upper torso) having a Triceratops form, Gairyu (left arm) having an ankylosaurus form, Yokuryu (right arm) having a Pteradon form, Rairyu (lower torso) having a Brontosaurus form, and Doryu (right leg) having a Stegosaurus form. That’s one towering titan that turns into six smaller, but still epic, robot dinosaurs or weapon-wielding bots. I mean these guys have swords and maces and such, they are actual terrors.

Another rad thing about our boy DinoKing is that each member, when combined into the DinoKing combiner form, pools their physical abilities together. That means his strength a combination of all of their strengths, so he’s an absolute powerhouse. The fun flip side is that they retain their individual intelligence, so he is not exactly a tactician on the battlefield, leaning into raw brute force and an absolute love for combat. These guys ignore orders and just hack, slash, bite, and fight until they are taken out or there is nothing left to break.

The multipack is so cool, because it includes all six bots and each transformer has full 2-in-1 conversion, along with being able to be combined to build DinoKing himself! I can not stress how much of a must-have for collectors this set is.

The bots also come with a ton of accessories, so when they are in their individual bot forms you can arm them with four blasters, two rocker launchers, a scythe, sword, mace, axe, and tail connector. This feature allows all sorts of shelf pose and play possibility.

Saying things like “Ultimate transformed gift pack” feels very weighted, and even when I get double delighted excited I try and avoid that level of jubilance, but it’s really hard for me not to tell you that this is indeed, at least for fans of the weird and wild bots, the Ultimate Transformers Gift Pack!

I will also flat-out tell you that if you look at the image above, you will see a stegosaurus named Doryu with a freaking scythe on its back, and a brontosaur named Rairyu with huge mech-sized missile launchers strapped to it. If that information does not leave you saying “… okay he may be right, this kinda is the ultimate Transformers gift set.” Then well… I’ll happily just sit over here and wait for whatever holiday entity who passes out rad gifts to show up with mine because I can’t think of another set of robots in disguise in a very long time that has made me as delighted as this set does.

Until next time, we have so much more to come from Hasbro Pulse, so stay tuned!
