‘Alien: Romulus’ Is Making The Trip To 4K, Blu-ray, And DVD In December

Alien: Romulus played well on a big screen, but its claustrophobic interiors and nail-biting suspense will likely work just as well on a big TV at home, especially in an upcoming 4K UHD release. Just be sure to turn out the lights.
Taking place just a few years after the events of the 1979 original Alien. A group of young miners working for the nefarious Weyland-Yutani company hatch a plan to escape from their oppressive mining colony. The group, including Rain (Cailee Spaeny) and her synthetic brother Andy (David Jonsson), set out salvaging materials for their trip from a nearby derelict spacecraft, only to encounter a few slimy, acid-y surprise guests.
Directed by Fede Alvarez (Don’t Breathe), Alien: Romulus also stars Archie Renaux, Isabela Merced, Spike Fearn, Aileen Wu, and a CG-created deepfake of a late actor featured in the 1979 original.
Special features include a four-part doc called “Return to Horror: Crafting Alien: Romulus,” an inside look at the film’s epic zero-gravity sequence, alternate and extended scenes, and a conversation with Alvarez and producer and Alien director Ridley Scott.
The 4K UHD will also be available in a limited edition SteelBook edition featuring new artwork and packaging. Meanwhile, 1979’s Alien, which is celebrating its 45th anniversary this year, will be digitally bundled with Romulus in a 4K 2-Movie Collection on October 15th.
Alien: Romulus hits digital retailers on October 15th, and lands on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD on December 3rd.
