Stallone Sci-Fi, ‘Critters,’ And Black & White Indie Horror Lead Arrow Video’s December 4K and Blu-ray Lineup

Arrow Video’s physical media lineup for December includes Stallone vs. Snipes, Steve McQueen vs. Nazis, Song Kang-ho on a twisted treasure hunt, and Critters. So many Critters.

First up is the 4K debut of 1993’s Demolition Man, which pits Sylvester Stallone against Wesley Snipes as two unfrozen fellas fighting it out in a futuristic, corporatized dystopia where Taco Bell reigns supreme. The stellar supporting cast includes Denis Leary, Benjamin Bratt, and Sandra Bullock. Presented in a brand new 4K transfer from the original 35mm camera negative, the limited edition release includes both the US and international cuts of the film, new audio commentaries and interviews, a 60-page bound book, a double-sided poster, art cards, stickers, and a reversible sleeve. Available in the US and the UK on 4K and Blu-ray.

Next up is The Addiction, a little-seen black-and-white Abel Ferrara horror movie featuring Lili Taylor as an NYC vampire who’s trying to kick the habit (sounds like a metaphor). Restored in 4K from the original camera negative, and available in the US and the UK, this one comes with an audio commentary with Ferrara, a documentary, a reversible sleeve, and an illustrated booklet.

Also in December comes a limited edition 4K release of one of the all-time great adventure movies: director John Sturges‘ The Great Escape. Steve McQueen, James Coburn, and Charles Bronson lead a cracking cast as allied POWs attempting to break out of a German prison camp in WWII.  The UK-only 3-disc release is housed in limited edition packaging with a reversible sleeve, illustrated booklet, and double-sided poster. Special features include audio commentaries and interviews, numerous featurettes and documentaries, and even the forgotten 1988 sequel The Great Escape II: The Untold Story, starring Christopher Reeve.

Next in December comes Kim Jee-woon‘s frenetic Korean spin on Sergio Leone, The Good, The Bad, The Weird, on limited edition 4K and Blu-ray in the UK. Parasite star Song Kang-ho plays a mercenary pitted against all kinds of other nefarious characters on the hunt for an epic buried treasure. The 2-disc release includes two cuts of the film, a 40-page perfect bound book, a double-sided poster, three art cards, a reversible sleeve, with new and archival commentaries, interviews, and featurettes.

Just in time for the holidays, Arrow brings us the goofy horror-comedy Critters franchise in all its gory glory. Making its UK-only Blu-ray debut, this special edition Critters: A Four Course Feast box set compiles all four Critters films, starring everyone from The Howling’s Dee Wallace to a young Leonardo DiCaprio. New and archival special features are TBA, but the set also comes with a 60-page hard bound book, double-sided posters for all four films, reversible sleeves with newly commissioned artwork, and more.

Saving the “Last” December release for last, Arrow presents The Last Video Store on limited edition Blu-ray in the US and UK. Cody Kennedy and Tim Rutherford’s debut feature is a loving documentary look at video stores of yesteryear and is sure to be a kind holiday present for the physical media fan in your life. Extras include four short films, an illustrated booklet, a reversible sleeve, and a double-sided poster.
