Arrow Video’s November Slate Offers Up ‘Fargo,’ ‘WarGames,’ ‘Dirty Dozen,’ ‘Clash of the Titans,’ And More

Arrow Video has a big November planned this year, with a slate that includes 4K UHD and Blu-ray titles spanning 1970s Hong Kong action to Hollywood classics from the ’60s, ’80s, and ’90s. There’s truly something for every type of movie fan … as long as they like a little blood, a little dark comedy, some fantasy, and a whole lot of mayhem.

First up is Joel and Ethan Coen‘s Oscar-winning crime comedy Fargo, an icy neo-noir about a kidnapping gone awry in the middle of an ice-cold Minnesota winter. It stars Frances McDormand, William H. Macy, Steve Buscemi, and Peter Stormare. Arriving on 4K UHD and Blu-ray in the UK only, special features include an archive audio commentary by director of photography Roger Deakins, and archive featurette, interviews with the cast and crew, featurettes, behind-the-scenes footage, trailers, reversible sleeve, a booklet, and more.

Next up is the 1983’s WarGames, in which two teens, played by Matthew Broderick and Ally Sheedy, accidentally get swept up in a potential nuclear armageddon. The UK-only 4K UHD Blu-ray includes an archival audio commentary with director John Badham and writers Lawrence Lasker and Walter Parkes, documentaries, featurettes, interviews, trailers, a collectors’ booklet, a reversible sleeve, and more.

Arrow stays in the ’80s with the release of Clash of the Titans, the 1981 mythical fantasy starring Harry Hamlin as Perseus, and featuring the iconic stop-motion effects of Ray Harryhausen. Available on 4K UHD and Blu-ray, Titans boasts a brand new 4K restored in 4K from the original 35mm negative. Special features include documentaries, interviews, featurettes, trailers, a reversible sleeve, double-sided poster, a perfect-bound booklet, and more.

Her comes The Dirty Dozen. In 1967, the great Lee Marvin leads a group of super badass dudes behind enemy lines in this thrilling WWII adventure directed by Robert Aldrich. It also stars John Cassavetes, Charles Bronson, Ernest Borgnine, Donald Sutherland, and Jim Brown. The 4K UHD and Blu-ray are restored in 4K from the original 35mm negative. Special features include a vintage audio commentary with actors Brown, Trini Lopez, Stuart Cooper, and Colin Maitland, and others. There’s also an archival introduction by Borgnine, the made-for-TV sequel The Dirty Dozen: Next Mission starring Marvin and Borgnine, a vintage Navy recruitment film narrated by Marvin, featurettes, trailers, and more.In the tradition of Arrow’s previously released ShawScope Blu-ray box sets, comes the Shawscope Presents: Street Gangs of Hong Kong set featuring seven rarely seen films. Instead of martial arts classics, this time the studio is focusing on 1970s crime thrillers starring the likes of Chen Kuan-Tai, Ti Lung, Danny Lee, and more. The collection sports new 2K restorations of all the films from the original 35mm negatives, including The Teahouse, its sequel Big Brother Cheng, and the spin-off Big Bad Sis. Other titles include The Delinquent, The Big Holdup, The Convict Killer, and The Brothers. The limited edition packaging comes with reversible sleeves for each disc, a perfect-bound booklet featuring new artwork and writing, commentaries, interviews, trailers, and more.

Finally, two 1970s wuxia epics make their Blu-ray debut. The Blade Spares None and The Hurricane both star Nora Miao in two blood-soaked tales of revenge. Patrick Tse Yin and James Tien co-star. The 2-disc set offers brand new 2K restoration of both titles, a reversible sleeve, a booklet featuring new writing, and more.
