Mad Cave Studio Offers A Special Sneak Preview Of ‘Victoria Jaguar’ #1
by Brendan M. Allen

Mad Cave Studios has revealed a special sneak preview of Victoria Jaguar #1, hitting spinner racks on November 11th.
A man tormented by impossible nightmares journeys across the world in search of the mythical Victoria Jaguar, an immortal guardian chosen by the Night Sky itself centuries ago. But when Victoria uncovers the truth behind his visions, she realizes the nightmare is real — and an unseen enemy has already set its sights on her.
Victoria Jaguar, the newest chapter in the Underworld Universe, is written by Underworld creator Mark London and brought to life with painted artwork by Marco Rudy. Check out the preview pages below:
“Victoria Jaguar is the story of a healer who has been listening to the night sky for two hundred years,” said London on the premise of the new series. “She was an eight-year-old girl in Colombia the night her village burned. She ran until a river stopped her. She could not cross it, and she could not save anyone. So, she looked up at the stars and asked for help. Not for herself. For everyone else. And the night sky answered.
“Two centuries later she is a shaman, the Mother of Songs, healer to the world,” he continued. “When something crawls out of the place your mind only brushes against in sleep and starts feeding on people, she is the one you go looking for. Her patient this time is a tech billionaire who has not slept in months. Not badly. Not at all. His nightmares got tired of waiting for him to close his eyes, and now they stand behind people in broad daylight. When Victoria finally examines him, she finds the worst kind of truth. He is not hallucinating. What is haunting him is real. And it was not sent to destroy him. It was sent to reach her.
“I have been carrying this character for years, and she is finally walking out the door. Marco Rudy painted every single page, and what came back is the kind of art you frame, not just read. This is the book that turns the Underworld Universe toward something older, and I cannot wait for people to meet her.”
“My art and storytelling differ from the usual, by being an organic conversation between layout and design, and the story being told,” added Rudy. “I like to use everything on a page, to convey the vibe, emotions, atmosphere and more, for each sequence, each page, each panel. Panel borders are not “just” borders, for me, they’re part of the story, they’re part of the experience — And with that I’m inviting the reader to go on an adventure with me.
“If the reader takes their time reading, looking at each page, they’ll find bits of context, they’ll find extra material and “side quests” that may contextualize each scene better,” he continued. “A page in a Machine inspired universe doesn’t just have panel borders – the borders are actually gears, like gears inside a pocket watch (like a pocket universe) and each gear is like a mini city filled with things happening there. That’s just an example of what I like to do.”
Final order cutoff falls on October 19th, so let your local shop know today if you want to to guarantee a copy of Victoria Jaguar.
