First Look: Ghost Machine Announces Its First Crossover With ‘Radioactive Revolution’ #1

by Olly MacNamee

If you insist on a shared universe, there has to be crossover at some point. And that’s exactly what Ghost Machine is finally doing after building up to this moment for some time now. Five years, actually.

Writer and Ghost Machine co-founders Geoff Johns (Geiger, Redcoat), Gary Frank (Geiger), and Bryan Hitch (Redcoat), Brad Anderson, and Rob Leigh are all contributing to Radioactive Revolution #1, an extra-length, 40-page story that will kickstart the crossover event before it spins out and continues in the upcoming Geiger #26-28 and Redcoat #23-24 next year.

Here’s more:

“This crossover has been five years in the making, ever since the immortal mercenary Simon Pure was contracted to hunt down Tariq Geiger in 2022’s Geiger 80-Page Giant. But the deadly and dangerous Redcoat must rely on his cunning instincts — and his immortality — to complete his mission to kill The Glowing Man. As Simon quickly learns, he’s in for the biggest fight of his over 250-year lifespan when a dangerous new wildcard enters the fray: Organgrinder, a villain who wants them both! Or, at least parts of each … “

Elaborating on the crossover’s premise, Johns stated:

“From the beginning, we’ve been building ‘The Unnamed’ universe towards this. Radioactive Revolution brings Geiger and Redcoat together for the first time, but this is much more than a crossover. It’s a collision that will change both characters and the world they inhabit forever … and reveal more about the Unknown War that created Geiger’s future timeline, and how it might relate to Simon Pure. And with Gary Frank and Bryan Hitch bringing it to life, we’re going bigger than ever before.”

Frank added:

“Although we’ve been planning this forever, this feels more like a beginning than any kind of culmination. Drawing Geiger and Simon together for the first time is a lot of fun, but all the seeds we’re planting for future stories are just as exciting.”

Hitch also added:

“You’re going to see a familiar but different Simon Pure than you’ve seen in Redcoat. He’s learned a few things in the 150 years or so since we saw him in Redcoat #22 and Radioactive Revolution #1. Maybe not as much of a tool as he used to be, but he’s also a lot more dangerous than we’ve ever seen him.”
